What you'll do We’ll meet in Piazza San Salvatore in Lauro, which dates from the sixteenth century and has a magnificent view of Castel Sant'Angelo. Then we'll head to my apartment nearby. Here, I’ll explain to you the Italian origins of the macaron,and we will use the italian method to prepare them. It’s a round, sweet, meringue-based cookie sandwich with a filling. We’ll learn how to prepare two different types of fillings called ganache. Then, we’ll prepare the Italian meringue and mix it with almond paste to create the batter. You’ll use a sac à poche for piping some of the macarons. Once they’re in the oven, you’ll love the sweet smell of homemade macarons and appreciate the taste even more. I’m really in love with this popular cookie and I would like to share my passion with you by teaching you the secrets of how to make perfect macarons at home.
